There is a time for everything…  Calling us in early can save you time, money and heartache

When you change something in business you want to get it right – for the future not the present or the past

Here are some good reasons to use our skills to provide information that might help you avoid pitfalls.

When and What

Why

“Wobblers” – we have seen these - sadly too often

Before moving office  BEFORE _ BEFORE BEFORE – specifically…  This is before you make offers, commit to leases and solicitors’ costs, before before…

Location, location, location.

It is surprising how many locations in rural counties – including in the heart of towns and cities – have poor broadband that could kill your business…

None of the attractions of premises with bad broadband should outweigh common sense – if it might stop you trading for some or large chunks of time, don’t go there.

Phone numbers

You could also waste tons on stationery by making the mistake of assuming you can keep your phone numbers…  and lose contact with lots of less regular customers who dial your “old” number”

If you want to take a phone number from one BT exchange to another – say from Malvern to Upton – BT won’t let you keep your number – unless you forward calls long term and pay fees, BUT WE WILL PUT IT ON THE INTERNET FOR YOU – so you need reliable high throughput broadband or the calls you receive on the number will be iffy.  See Voice over IP

Poor broadband is “laws of physics” territory – the further from the exchange the worse the broadband. If there is aluminium in the cable to your property it cracks up after 20 – 30 years.…

As part of

   the business planning of setting up new locations;

   carrying out environmental audits

Your environmental footprint will cost more and more year by year as we are cajoled, then doubtless coerced to do our bit for the environment.

People in London say we should fight to avoid congestion charging in our towns – how much would it cost for all your employees to park in your town at a fiver a day – where’s that a level playing field in a world market for labour?  So look at home working for a saving yourself, now, seriously, before pushed to it.

We work with Dr Phil Brown to get you checked out first.  Phil and Jed will work out a plan based on need and technology that may offer a new perspective.

It is a sad fact that we often find that the fast changing nature of communications and information technologies leaves customers so cold that their relevance to plans to change your business’ global footprint are missed.

When we point them out in layman terms most are less obscure.

Few customers get it right.  Now if you don’t want to …

Before marketing new products

Let us assume you have a raging success on your hands.

If it is a flop – no problem – any old system and your team can just carry on regardless – but SUCCESS – by whatever degree – needs the response managed.

This is where a phone system that brings people at their present desk together in a team based on the best practice for the circumstances of your success.

We love applying call centre technology to competent business teams to make their lives easier, say doctors surgeries at busy early morning appointment booking times.   Back to Top

Before employing new staff.

There are some jobs that take teams of people to fulfil them.  If the role  involves answering the phone then a review of best practice can have surprising benefits

If ten people can take 100 five minute calls each day per person on ordinary phones and we can deliver information that saves half a minute per call you can save a person.    Back to Top

Reviewing costs,

Finding new ways to save cost is getting harder year after year.  Substantial cost reduction is available in flexible, mobile and home working.

These are long term savings and they require some re-thinking.  But if you pay £5 per day per person to get into town in three years and you plan now to avoid 60% of the travel, you may be getting to a lease break clause that will save you rent, business rates, light, heat, travel, anxst in traffic jams, improve family working and gain productivity up to 60% (BT do).

Before changing forms

Paper is a handling curse but the paperless office is still a Holy Grail.  Now, we can help with forms and a light pen that can record the written word as a picture or to convert it to text and numbers, then send it as the finished form is completed, to your computer systems via a mobile phone.

Of course you can continue writing then pay someone to type it all in.  You just choose.

When you can't get onto the Internet fast enough,  when sick of waiting too long for downloads and emails,

You just waste time when this happens – look around at the time it takes for every screen to refresh – if it is 10 seconds and you have 10 people and they need to change screens in these areas just 100 times a day each that’s  over three hours a day – half a person or £12,500 a year with overheads.

Networks and broadband slow down people and cost you money.  Revelation – we will help you to look at products that don’t cause these problems and you can decide if you can afford not to use them!

Having a baby and wanting to work from home.  This could be full time caring for a friend or relative, a commitment to personal or sporting activity.

I have had all sorts of stern warnings to gender, age and race neutralize every word on this web site, but I am on safe ground here.  I was at the birth of all three of my daughters to watch my wife do something only the female of the species can.  Sometimes only one person will do and flexibility is needed to help you along.  I have also worked from home much of the time since 1989.

For some of you, afterwards, if you want either you or your partner to stay at home longer than the run of maternity/paternity leave; being there every day in the holidays and on the way to and from school is your cultural decision – good for you.  You can make it happen effectively and not, like us, lose a valuable professional second income if your employer lets you work at home.  Just ask us to join the discussion and we’ll work out the technology needed to make it seamless.    Back to Top
